I started managing Archontiko Old Town Suites in the middle of the pandemic, in late October of 2020. During these difficult times, the property was abandoned by the previous owner, but for me, it was a chance. My name is Alyona Cherednichenko and together with my husband, we travel all over the world (check out our blog www.aktravelife.com). For several years I had in my mind to start some business in the hospitality industry so that to feel connected to the foreign countries even when we are in Greece.
When I saw a real estate agent listing of this property on the website, I got really excited. The next day I and my hubby drove to Rethymno from Heraklion to see the place. And when we did, we simply fell in love.
Even though old houses are a bunch of troubles and generally the building was not in a very good condition (it was not operating for over a year), I found it extremely beautiful and with great potential. Since we didn’t have huge savings to renovate the place, I put a lot of personal time and effort so that to make it just astonishing.
Despite the strange situation in the world of travel, I anticipate welcoming our first guests and I look to the future of this place full of hopes and plans. Let’s give Archontiko a second chance!
